InfusionPoints Receives US SBA HUBZone Recertification

December 15, 2011 -- The U.S. Small Business Association (SBA) confirmed this week that InfusionPoints, LLC meets specific SBA criteria to be recertified as a “qualified HUBZone small business concern.” The Federal government uses the HUBZone designation to help it direct federal contracting and employment opportunities to historically underutilized business areas.

“As a Veteran Owned Small Business based outside of the DC Metropolitan Area, working with the Federal government can be a challenge,” said Gary Daemer, President of InfusionPoints. “The HUBZone certification means that Federal program managers, contracting officers, and prime contractors will have an easier avenue to procure InfusionPoints services. Furthermore, Federal agencies and prime contractors may now take advantage of InfusionPoints services to meet their HUBZone contracting obligations.”

InfusionPoints – Secure Business Solutions, provides motivated, qualified, and industry-leading IT Security resources to support Federal Initiatives in the Civilian, Homeland Security and Defense areas. Mr. Daemer explained, “We’re dedicated to providing proactive protective services to secure our customers’ data, and are committed to helping them efficiently counter the growing global threats to their business and mission success.”

“I’m thrilled InfusionPoints has been recertified as a HUBZone Small Business Concern, and we all look forward to helping Western North Carolina gain new access to federal opportunities that we hope will bring new jobs for highly skilled IT professionals to our community,” concluded Mr. Daemer.

I recently registered for a website hosted by a government agency that handles some of the most sensitive personal information available within U.S. Government. While the site is only a simple scheduling system, imagine my dismay when I received an email confirming my registration that included both my username in password in the email body. That email demonstrates that, despite all of the reported attention to security over the past several years, especially within the Federal Government, we are failing to build an effective information security culture.

As just about everyone who reads the news knows, Google announced on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 that it would merge the data it collects from individual users across all of its properties starting March 1, 2012. Basically, Google will be able to better anticipate how to direct individual user activities to best serve their needs, building a grand database of all user activity and behaviors. The question that few are asking, though, is what the impact will be on businesses. That's where things get really complicated.
